GarageBand is a powerful, yet easy to use, composition and recording arts software package from Apple. It is part of the iLife suite of creative applications designed for (and shipped with!) Macintosh computers.
As a music educator, I have found GarageBand to be an extremely effective tool for engaging learners of all ages and abilities in the composition process. GarageBand is a departure from many traditional notions about learning music composition because it doesn’t require many of the prerequisites composition students faced in the past.
GarageBand is a great tool for the music classroom, but also for the language arts, social studies, science, mathematics, and foreign language classroom too.
