You have a couple of options. I'll be talking about this in Episode #37 - which should be out during the last week of Dec 06.

In short, I have a couple recommendations - Purchase a license to QuickTime Pro 7. QT has audio and video recording tools built into it. It doesn't offer you advanced editing features, but its good for a quick video recording.

For something more produced, consider Vlog It! from Serious Magic. It is a fairly good program, but doesn't currently support QuickTime exports, so you'll have to go through some conversions to get your end products into a suitable format for the masses of viewers using iTunes.

Dan,

Thanks for presenting at Beyond 4 Walls. Your ideas for podcasting are very inspiring! We plan to use many of these with a variety of teachers, students and subjects. I tried downloading the 20 podcast uses but it apparently may have been "relocated". Could you check for me and let me know where I can download the presentation? -I would love to see them!

Best Regards,
David

Hi Laura,
The word podcast comes from fusing the words iPod & broadcast. You can subscribe to the audio of video file with a program like iTunes. You will receive it on your computer like you do the newspaper on your doorstep. When a new podcast comes out, your computer will get it when you go online. You usually record a podcast with special software on your computer (for example, GarageBand on a Mac, and audacity on a PC) and with a microphone. Once you publish the broadcast (easily with podOmatic) you can listen to it on your personal computer or download it to your iPod or other MP3 player. That's just a small intro. There's lots of information on this site so read on and follow the links. For more information, let Google do the walking. Good Luck!

I am very confused about what a podcast is. I want to write a grant to recieve pods in my room to do these awesome things but I'm not even sure what they are. Do they record sounds and then store them to be used later? I'm embarassed to know so little! Thanks.
